About the artist
Xia Xiao (肖筱) is a ceramic artist from Jianyang, Fujian, and the founder of Zhili Studio (制丽). Her work brings traditional Jian Zhan glaze effects into a contemporary artistic setting, drawing on the tea-bowl tradition associated with the Song dynasty.
Her pieces explore the movement, texture, and color of ceramic glazes. The FSOC collection includes cups described as hare’s fur, micro flowers, red and orange partridge patterns, dotted glazes, and flowing glaze on straw-hat forms.
Studio and artistic character
Working under the Zhili name in Jianyang, Xia Xiao combines an interest in Song-style tea ware with experimentation in glaze and form. Her cups range from fine streaked surfaces to spotted patterns and flowing glaze effects, giving the collection a varied visual character.
