About the artist
You Wen (游文) is a Jian Zhan ceramic artist associated with Youshi Wenzhan (游氏玟盏) in Jianyang, Fujian. His work includes rainbow oil-drop tea bowls, iridescent crystalline glazes, and carved designs featuring cranes.
He studied under Xiong Zhonggui (熊忠贵), a provincial-level inheritor of Jian Zhan intangible cultural heritage. His artist biography identifies him as the originator of a seven-color crystalline glaze for Jian Zhan with a constricted rim (建盏口沿七彩结晶釉).
Glazes and artistic character
You Wen’s oil-drop glazes explore the contrast between a dark surface and bright, reflective spots. His rainbow effects bring changing colors to the glaze, while carved crane imagery adds a distinct decorative character to selected works.
Named pieces in his work include “Rose Gold Oil-Drop Bowl” (玫瑰金油滴盏), “Rainbow Kiln-Transmutation Flared-Rim Bowl” (彩虹窑变撇口盏), and “Jade-Rim Gold Oil-Drop Bowl” (玉口金油滴盏).

Studio branding and crane imagery
The studio name is 游氏玟盏, rendered here as Youshi Wenzhan. You Wen’s name, 游文, appears in his artist material alongside the studio’s crane imagery.
Crane-themed titles recur throughout his work, including “Crane Calling to the Nine Heavens.” These motifs connect his carved decoration with the naming and presentation of his tea bowls.
