孙寒冰Luhuaping Jian Zhan 芦花坪建盏 · second-generation family practice
Biography
Sun Hanbing (孙寒冰), born in July 1988 in Jianyang, is a contemporary Jian Zhan artist from the Luhuaping ceramic family. His father, Sun Fukun (孙福昆), is the founder of Luhuaping Jian Zhan and one of Jianyang’s early representative inheritors of the Jian kiln/Jian Zhan firing technique. Sun Hanbing continues that workshop tradition while developing his own work.
Luhuaping & Practice
Sun works through Luhuaping Jian Zhan (芦花坪建盏), a workshop using both wood-fired and electric kilns. His documented output includes hare’s-fur, oil-spot, partridge-spot and contemporary kiln-transformation glazes, including pieces fired in Luhuaping’s dragon kiln.
Representative Works & Recognition
Representative works include 《彩练撇口》, 《浮沙》 and 《柴烧兔毫盏》. His 2016 wood-fired hare’s-fur bowl received a gold award at the 10th Hefei Cultural Expo. 《拾光》 entered the collection of the Nanjing China Imperial Examination Museum in 2018, and a black-glaze silver oil-spot work entered the Shanghai Arts & Crafts Museum collection later that year.
Professional Record
Luhuaping’s official biography lists Sun Hanbing as a representative inheritor, Senior Arts & Crafts Artist, Senior Technician, Fujian Arts & Crafts Famous Artist, Fujian Ceramic Arts Famous Artist and Nanping Folk Arts & Crafts Famous Artist. In 2020 he published 《从建盏探索艺术的功能属性价值》 on the functional and artistic value of Jian Zhan.
Marks & Identification
Artist marks, Luhuaping presentation material, certificates and complete vessel photographs provide the strongest identification context for individual pieces.
