Weng Jinsong
翁金松Contemporary Jian Zhan maker · documented mineral-glaze and hare’s-fur work
Biography
Weng Jinsong (翁金松) is a contemporary maker whose name appears on documented Jian Zhan circulating in the collector market. His documented pieces provide the clearest picture of his current Jian Zhan practice.
Documented Work
Pieces sold under Weng Jinsong’s name are described as using a high-iron Jian body and original mineral glaze, with hand-forming or hand-finishing emphasized in accompanying descriptions. Recorded surface names include 金丝玉毫, a fine golden hare’s-fur style, and 松针, or “pine-needle,” together with oil-spot and Yaobian-style examples.
These contemporary glaze names are useful for identifying how his work has circulated, but they should not be treated as standardized historical Jian ware categories.
Identification
Attribution should be based on the whole object, including its foot, maker mark, packaging, certificate and provenance when available. A glaze pattern by itself is not enough to establish authorship.
