Ning Ji
宁吉Contemporary Jian Zhan artist · 静界 · oil-spot and crystalline glaze work
Biography
Ning Ji (宁吉) is a contemporary Jian Zhan artist associated with Jianyang, Fujian. Ning Ji’s work centers on dark iron-rich tea bowls with metallic and crystalline spotting, combining traditional Jian ware forms with brighter contemporary kiln effects.
静界 · Jingjie
静界 (“Quiet Realm”) is one of the named lines associated with Ning Ji. The series uses oil-spot and partridge-spot visual language in hand-made Jian Zhan forms.
Glaze & Use
Ning Ji’s documented bowls use spotted, reflective glaze effects over dark grounds. Existing artist material also presents repeated tea use, often described as 养杯, as part of the experience of the ware, with the surface appearing different under changing light and use.
Marks & Identification
Identification is strongest when the vessel, base mark, certificate and packaging are considered together. Glaze appearance alone is not sufficient to attribute a Jian Zhan bowl to a particular maker.
