Biography
Luo Zhen (罗真) is a ceramic artist based in Shuiji, Jianyang. A retired military veteran from Nanping, Luo has worked in ceramics since the 1980s, with a long practice in hand forming and wood-fired kiln techniques.
Practice & Materials
Luo works with iron-rich clay (铁胎) and original mineral glaze (原矿釉). His pieces combine traditional Jian ware materials with wood-firing and often include carved or textured details that remain visible beneath or beside the glaze.
Dragon-Kiln Work
His documented practice includes restoration and use of traditional dragon-kiln firing methods. Because kiln atmosphere, flame path and ash exposure vary across a long wood firing, individual surfaces can differ significantly even within a single firing.
