Li Longsen
李隆森Jian Zhan maker · oil-spot and colorful Yaobian work
Biography
Li Longsen (李隆森) is a contemporary Jian Zhan maker working within the modern Jianyang black-glazed tea-bowl tradition. His work is associated with oil-spot surfaces and strongly iridescent Yaobian-style glazes in which blue, violet, silver and warm metallic colors emerge as the bowl moves through changing light.
Documented examples under his name include 七彩曜变 and 七彩孔雀曜变, colorful kiln-transformation surfaces built on an iron-rich body and mineral glaze. These works extend the dark visual foundation of Jian ware into a brighter contemporary palette without relying on painted decoration.
Materials & Glaze
Li Longsen’s documented work is described with an iron body and original mineral glaze. The glaze develops through high-temperature firing, where mineral composition, atmosphere, temperature and cooling influence the final spotting and color response.
Marks & Identification
Certificates and presentation boxes accompany documented examples and provide the strongest attribution when considered together with the complete vessel.
Jian Zhan Tradition
Jian kiln/Jian Zhan firing is a nationally recognized intangible-cultural-heritage project in China, and Li Longsen’s work belongs to the contemporary continuation of that craft in Jianyang.
