Biography

Chen Jiadong (陈家东) is a contemporary Jian Zhan maker whose work is represented by signed tea bowls and collection certificates. His ceramics draw on the dark, iron-rich visual language of Jian ware while using the strong glaze movement and light response associated with modern hare’s-fur and oil-spot work.

Practice

Chen’s practice includes traditional wood firing together with hare’s-fur and oil-spot glaze effects. These surfaces gain much of their visual depth from the way the fired glaze responds to changing light, giving the bowls a different character as they are turned in the hand.

Marks & Identification

家东Jiadong

One signed bowl bears the 家东 mark on its base and is paired with a 收藏证书 (collection certificate). The combination of the base mark and certificate provides a clear identification reference for Chen Jiadong’s work.
