Cai Xingfo
蔡幸佛Cai-family Jian ware craftswoman · hare’s fur & oil spot
About Cai Xingfo
Cai Xingfo (蔡幸佛) is a Jian ware craftswoman from the Cai ceramic family of Jianyang. A surviving certificate accompanying one of her works identifies her as the younger sister of Cai Bingkun 蔡炳昆, Cai Binglong 蔡炳龙 and Cai Bingsheng 蔡炳盛.
The same documentation states that her three elder brothers personally taught her Jian Zhan making. Through that family training, her work belongs to the same Shuiji ceramic tradition that shaped the careers of the better-documented Cai brothers.
Her documented work includes hare’s-fur and oil-spot glazes, with an emphasis on strong crystalline development over dark Jian bodies.
Glazes & Style
Cai Xingfo’s surviving documentation describes two classic Jian glaze directions as central to her work.
Family Tradition & Documented Work
The example preserved with this profile shows dense oil-spot crystallization over a dark glaze and is accompanied by a certificate, signature and red seal. Together, those materials connect the piece to Cai Xingfo and the wider Cai-family Jian ware tradition.
The certificate uses the Chinese name 蔡幸佛, which is the most useful form for matching signatures, seals and Chinese-language documentation.
Name & Identification
蔡幸佛 is romanized in Mandarin pinyin as Cai Xingfo. Older filenames and the existing page slug use “Cai Fengfo,” but the visible artist name is kept as Cai Xingfo.
The surviving certificate is signed 蔡幸佛 and carries a red seal, making those features especially useful when comparing attributed examples.
