About Huang Meijin
Huang Meijin (黄美金), born in 1956, is a Jian Zhan maker from Jianyang whose name is closely associated with 金油滴, or Gold Oil-Drop Jian Zhan. Published ceramic-market profiles describe decades of work with the firing and glaze development of this style.
Gold Oil-Drop Practice
Huang’s Gold Oil-Drop bowls use iron-rich Jian ware bodies and mineral glazes to produce dense metallic-looking golden spotting against a darker ground. The pattern is created through firing rather than by applying literal drops of gold to form the glaze pattern.
Roles & Recognition
Profiles identify Huang as an inheritor connected with Nanping’s intangible-cultural-heritage project 建窑建盏金油滴制技艺 and as honorary director and technical director of the Jianyang Imperial Kiln Ceramics Research Institute. They also record a 2015 Jianyang recognition for his Gold Oil-Drop Jian Zhan technique.
Marks & Identification
Published work listings show the character 金 used as a base mark on documented Huang Meijin Gold Oil-Drop pieces.
