Biography

Lin Hui (林辉) is the founder of Yi Nian Song Zhan (易念宋盏), a Jianyang Jian Zhan brand with a strong focus on wood firing. The name Yi Nian draws on the Yijing, framing the studio’s work around the idea of carrying traditional craft forward while responding to contemporary taste.

His professional biography identifies him as a National Level II Technician, Senior Ceramic Artist and council member of the Nanping Arts and Crafts Association. He is also presented as a representative inheritor within Jian ware firing programs.

Wood Firing

Wood firing is central to the Yi Nian identity. The studio describes subtle smoky or oily surface traces as natural consequences of the firing process, and contemporary examples under Lin Hui’s name include dragon-kiln-fired work in black-gold, ink-landscape and other dark glaze families.

Glazes & Series

Documented glaze families include oil spot, hare’s fur, black gold, silver hare’s fur, Starry Sky and 墨韵山水 (“Ink Rhythm in Mountain Water”). Current market documentation also links the studio with 水墨丹青·千里江山, extending the landscape language across wood-fired Jian Zhan.

Philosophy

Yi Nian Song Zhan’s studio language connects Jian ware with classical Chinese thought: clay is shaped by hand, transformed by fire and intended to continue developing meaning through use. The studio’s own motto describes the cup as “born of earth, completed by fire.”
