About the Artist: Zhu Jing Yun (朱静芸)
Zhu Jing Yun (朱静芸) is a contemporary Jianzhan artist born into a renowned family of ceramicists. As the daughter of master potter Zhu Xin Cong (朱新聪), she represents the next generation of a deeply rooted ceramic tradition. Growing up immersed in the world of clay, glaze, and fire, Zhu Jing Yun has carried forward the legacy of her family while shaping a unique voice of her own in the craft.
Her work reflects both reverence for ancient Song dynasty aesthetics and a bold willingness to innovate. Drawing from the full thirteen-step process of traditional Jian Zhan production, she approaches each stage—from clay refinement to glaze formulation and firing—with meticulous care. Her creations often reveal quiet elegance and depth, with glazes that bloom like poetry under high heat.
Zhu Jing Yun’s artistry is more than inherited skill—it is a passionate dialogue between past and present, shaped by a woman’s perspective in a traditionally male-dominated field. Her signature style is refined yet expressive, balancing technical mastery with artistic intuition. As a torchbearer for the Zhu family name and a growing force in her own right, Zhu Jing Yun continues to expand the boundaries of what modern Jianzhan can be.
