About the Artist: Xu Yongsheng (徐永生)
Xu Yongsheng, born in Jianyang, Nanping, Fujian Province, is the Executive Director of Jingde Jinghan Media Culture Co., Ltd. Since 1999, under the guidance of master collectors Huang Meijin and Zeng Yanfu, he has immersed himself in the world of Jian ware, developing a deep passion for collecting and studying Song Dynasty Jianzhan.
Over the years, he has built a strong reputation in the world of antique collecting for his keen eye, expertise in Song Dynasty glazes, and especially for his obsession with the extremely rare “Seven-Color Gold and Silver Painted Jian Zhan” (七彩乌金描银盏), prized for its exceptional craftsmanship.
In June 2013, he became a founding executive member of the Jianyang Jianzhan Association. Driven by a desire to recreate lost techniques, he dedicated over a decade to reviving the art of Song Dynasty golden-black (金花乌彩) and silver-painted (描银) Jianzhan. Through countless trials and setbacks, he eventually succeeded in reproducing these traditional glazes and techniques in 2022.
His works have since been acquired by museums and collectors around the world, recognized as rare masterpieces that carry forward the legacy of Song ceramics.
