Xu Changhe

Xu Changhe, born in 1975 in Shuiji, Jianyang—known as the birthplace of Jian ware—has been deeply involved in the craft of Jian ware since 2007.

He founded Jianyang District Matou Kiln Jian Ware Ceramics Co., Ltd. in Nanping City. He currently serves as a council member of the China Ceramic Artists Association, an executive council member of the Fujian Intangible Cultural Heritage Association, and a council member of the Fujian Artists Association.

Over more than a decade of dedicated practice and exploration, Xu has developed deep expertise in the techniques of Jian ware. His creations have received widespread acclaim and recognition across various social sectors.

His work has earned numerous awards, including: The 2nd and 3rd “UNESCO World Heritage Craft & Art Gold Awards”The 4th “China (Dalian) International Cultural Industry Expo Gold Award”The 2018 “Fujian Province Craft & Art Hundred Flowers Award” Gold MedalIn total, he has won 16 major awards. His works are part of the collections of 11 institutions, including the National Museum of Ethnology, Tianjin Art Museum, and Xi’an Museum.Xu has been honored with titles such as “National First-Class/Senior Technician” and “Fujian Province Light Industry Master of Arts and Crafts.”
