Shuiji Houjingtan Kuozhan Jianzhan Ceramic Studio is dedicated to the preservation and continuation of traditional Jian ware craftsmanship. The studio carries forward the skills and techniques that once defined the peak of black-glazed porcelain during the Song Dynasty.
Master Li Zhengui, alongside his son Li Zuowen, has spent decades refining the ancient methods of Jianzhan production. With guidance from leading researchers in the field, they have restored traditional firing formulas for clay and glaze, achieving a remarkable level of precision in both materials and kiln control.
Their work is celebrated for its fine body, lustrous glaze, and subtle, restrained beauty — qualities that reflect both ancient tradition and modern artistry. Each piece embodies a deep respect for history while expressing the unique aesthetic vision of the studio.
The studio has also passed formal safety certifications for its lamp products, confirming a commitment to both artistic integrity and practical quality.
Through careful transmission of skills from father to son, this legacy continues — preserving the spirit of Jian ware for future generations.
