Master Lai JinRong has been dedicated to the art of Jian ware for over two decades. He founded his own kiln studio in 2005, emphasizing traditional craftsmanship rooted in natural materials like locally sourced ores and plant ash. His work is known for its refined, rounded forms and striking glazes—ranging from deep reds to dazzling iridescent effects—that echo the techniques and spirit of Song dynasty Jian ware.

Artistic Style

Lai’s signature styles include iron-rich oxblood reds with crackled textures, radiant leopard-spot yōhen, and vivid, multicolor pieces featuring mirror-like surfaces. His glazes are often described as dynamic and mesmerizing, producing effects that shift with the light.

Notable Works

  • 赤焰 (Chi Yan / Crimson Flame): A fiery red glaze with dense crackles and glowing depth, resembling molten lava.
  • 曜变豹纹 (Yohen Leopard Spot): A dramatic crystalline glaze pattern evoking the eye of a galaxy or wild animal print.
