About the Artist: Ji Guoping (暨国平)

Ji Guoping (暨国平), born in 1982 in Jianyang, Nanping, is a respected Jianzhan artist known for his mastery of traditional Song Dynasty techniques and poetic sensibilities. Raised near the historic birthplace of Jian ware, he draws deep inspiration from ancient kiln culture while introducing a unique personal aesthetic.

Ji founded the Huiyue Jianzhan Ceramic Studio (慧月建盏工作室) in Jianyang District, where he continues to create innovative forms of Jianzhan that honor tradition. He is recognized as a technical expert in the ceramic industry and holds the title of “Nanping City Famous Folk Arts & Crafts Artist.” His work has received national acclaim, including multiple awards at cultural expos across China.

One of his signature phrases, “慎言” (Shèn Yán), meaning “Speak with Caution,” is often inscribed on the base of his pieces. It reflects both a personal philosophy and the contemplative nature of tea culture. You may also encounter pieces bearing the studio mark “国翠呈”, a poetic brand name associated with his work.
