About the Artist: Cai Yukun （蔡炀昆）
Cai Yukun is a recognized master of traditional Jian Zhan (建盏) pottery from Shuiji Town, Jianyang District, Fujian Province. With over 30 years of experience, he has dedicated his career to researching and perfecting the art of Jian ware firing techniques.
His work preserves classical craftsmanship, combining traditional skills with exceptional attention to form and spirit. Experts regard his pieces as excellent examples of technical quality and expressive glaze artistry, widely appreciated across cities like Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai.
Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Cai’s standout creation—the “Golden Oil Spot Jian Zhan” (金油滴建盏)—has won national recognition:
- January 2015: First Prize at the 3rd China International Arts & Crafts Innovation Design Award.
- October 2015: Silver Prize at the Cross-Strait Cultural Industry Expo in Dongguan.
